My style is warm, compassionate and reflective. I believe that listening well and developing a trusting relationship with my clients is a large part of the success in therapy. I collaborate with my clients to provide a safe and supportive space. Therapy can help you to obtain a different perspective in the way that a kaleidoscope can bring forth a variety of vantage points. My role is to accompany my clients on their journey through asking relevant questions, providing encouragement, and challenging perspectives that may move them away from their goals. This may include teaching coping skills, and identifying specific goals, as the client needs.
About
I am a psychotherapist licensed in the State of California (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #84417). I use different approaches to therapy tailored specifically to the unique needs of each client with a focus on relationships with others and with self. Having been on both sides of the “couch”, I acquired an intimate knowledge of empathy, which I do my best to embody for each client entrusted to my care. Cultural inclusivity and humility are values I hold that comes with listening well. As a .5 generation Asian therapist, I bring a particular perspective to the immigrant/refugee experience. At times, this allows clients to feel understood without having to explain their culture or themselves in our work together.
I personally understand the challenges that come from acculturation, and desire to contribute to the community the components that bridges the gap that lies between multi-generational, complex, cultural relational dynamics. I also work with clients who have experienced adverse effects within high control religious groups/communities. My clients also identify within the LGBTQ+ communities, neurodivergence and feel deeply.
Throughout my practice, I have worked with adults, teens, children and families across community clinics in Santa Clara County. I learn from my clients to listen well, embrace complexity, and the importance of integrating multiple aspects of an individual's identities into the therapeutic work. I am familiar with various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I also provide more trauma-focused therapies such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Brainspotting and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I have a Master of Science in Counseling, with an emphasis on Marriage, Family and Child Counseling.
